Forums are here! Thanks everyone for waiting. They’re still a little rough around the edges, but we appreciate you being here for this and appreciate any kind of feedback you may have.

This expands our “discuss” section to more than just another page, but rather, a full forum for discussion and interaction. Think of it as the IDSKETCHING.COM community.

NEW SKETCHES

Steve McDonald’s sketches are up in the sketchbook section. Make sure you go and check out his old school HEAT! Also, we are working on a better way to organize things in the sketchbook section. Hang in there while the site continues to mature and develop…

NEW CONTRIBUTOR – STEVE McDONALD

Our new contributor has been around design since most of us were still in diapers. He has worked on a variety of projects for companies such as Apple, Esprit, Fila, Patagonia, Scarpa, and Nike to name a few. He currently runs his own show and does work for Nike’s innovation kitchen, keeping himself very much in the design game. He is one of my personal friends and design heroes…Steve McDonald!

I’m posting his work up in the sketchbook section ASAP.

What’s going on….

So, we haven’t posted in a while. For some of you, this has been frustrating, but we’re working on updating our site in some major ways for compatibility across browsers.

We’re also working on videos behind the scene so you can expect major updates to the videos as well. We’re also working on revamping the way the video section is organized and also trying to integrate an RSS feed into the video page, and sketchbook page, so bear with us and we work on these updates.

The next thing we’re adding is the introduction of a forum for user discussion, video posts, sketch help/questions and a general way for the idsketching community to interact. We feel this will become an integral chunk of the site, but we want to do it right, so please be patient. Thanks again for being fans of the site and keep checking for updates. One advantage of signing up for the forums is the ability to mail and keep in touch with you, our user base, so you can expect better contact from us. Thanks!

Launch Day

It’s been a long time coming, but IDSKETCHING.COM is here. We’ve spent a ton of time working on this project together and are extremely pleased with the outcome. You can look forward to frequent updates in the coming weeks as well as tons of new content.

We’re already in the process of making several improvements to the video player page and how certain functions are implemented and are as excited about v.2 as we are about v.1

Thanks to our “Beta” testers who helped us identify bugs here and there. We’re still working on IE 6 Compatability, but most issues can be solved using any modern web browser.

1HDC

I submitted this sketch for the Core77 one hour design challenge. Its interesting to me to think about designing something in one hour. Is this really design? I would say no…not entirely. However a sketch or idea that can spark an emotion, excite the senses, and hopefully lead to some more thought and development can become design. I’ve decided the 1HDC is good practice because its the equivalent of having a good verbal elevator pitch for your idea…only here it’s perceptible in visual form.
