Hey Spencer. This site is great. I have been wondering about these sketch a day pics. Do you composite the sketches on top of each other in photoshop, or do you actually sketch that way with separate forms on top of each other? I think it adds visual interest, but i think if I tried to do it on the page I would just get a big mess.

I sketch it all on a single page. No compositing. Just try not to sketch everything with the same lineweight and that should help.

great sketches…I am wondering…How long did you do each of these three papers? I have problem with something like this…Make more sketches on one paper…I make for example two that are OK but then I destroy paper with another one. I hate it.

I toss some pages too, but in this case, I’m usually sketching while watching tv, so I imagine these take anywhere from 10-20 mins per page.

    Hi Spencer, really inspiring stuff.
I’m a student starting my 2nd year in ID. regarding these sketches, how are you creating your wire frames? I tried to do some glasses and I failed miserably.
Also, thee Prismacolor pencil is the regular black from the color set or a graphite pencil from prima?

I started out using a cylinder as the base wireframe and went from there. When in doubt too, you can always look at the real thing.

May I ask what wireframe/clyinder you two are talking about?
