About

Ideology

So here’s the deal – John and I go way back. We went to the same college took the same classes, and have some of the same passions. We both love sketching, creating and teaching. That’s what IDSKETCHING.COM is all about.

John and I decided that it was about time we share our work and methodology with the general design/art community. We’re no masters by any means, but no such undertaking has been attempted by anyone in any way such as this. We came up with the idea to share and share alike. To have this site as a resource for all to use to better their skillset.

We believe in helping others and providing a resource for all to use absolutely free of charge. We believe that by helping others, you ultimately help yourself in the process.

Alot of time and energy has been put into the site and we hope that you’ll come back weekly for updates and monthly for our longer featured demos. Like I said, this is a massive undertaking. We have a small library to start with, but join us as we make this dream a reality.

Great site guys… This is developing into a valuable resource with serious potential. It seems as though the community is growing stronger each day. I want to say, first of all, congrats on the recent national/international exposure.

Can I quickly recommend some additional sites that could strengthen the community: TED.com (TEDtalks), IDSA.org (of course), likecool.com, tuvie.com, wired news, product design forums, gizmo, gizmodo, industrial design sandbox, cool material, cool hunting… Building this network of relevant works could really feed us designers with a shared collective, hence innovation ten fold.

The combo of CAD and Sketch representation can elaborate and excite professionals from all facets.. a universal language of sorts. You guys are really helping fill the narrowing communicational gap in the product design community.

“Everyone has great ideas… representing them is the talent” — We can’t agree 100%, or can we?

Anyhow, thanks again for what you are doing…

    Peacies,

    B

    Hi guys,
great site. I was wondering if you would consider doing a tutorial on the best way to scan in line art AND color illustrations. Mine never seem to look as good as the original nor as good as some of the example on your website. A tutorial would be cool.

    Hello John and Spensor,

Would you consider doing a demo for high school design students?
