Shoe design is an art form that requires a combination of creativity, technical skill, and an understanding of fashion trends. From the shape of the shoe to the choice of materials and colors, every detail is carefully considered to create a unique and stylish shoe. One of the ways designers add an extra element of style to their shoes is through the use of prints. In this article, we will explore the world of shoe design and prints, and how they can help you express your individuality.

  • Animal Prints

Animal prints are a timeless trend in fashion, and they are a popular choice for shoes as well. Leopard, zebra, and snakeskin prints are some of the most commonly used animal prints in shoe design. They add a bold and edgy touch to any outfit and can be paired with neutral or solid-colored clothing to make a statement. Animal prints are especially popular in the fall and winter seasons when designers tend to use warmer and more textured materials.

  • Floral Prints

Floral prints are a feminine and romantic choice for shoe design. From small dainty flowers to larger blooms, floral prints can add a touch of elegance and whimsy to any shoe design. They are especially popular in the spring and summer seasons when designers use lighter and more breathable materials. Floral prints can be paired with flowy dresses, skirts, or even jeans to add a pop of color and texture to any outfit.

  • Geometric Prints

Geometric prints are a modern and edgy choice for shoe design. From stripes to checks and even polka dots, geometric prints can add a sense of structure and playfulness to any shoe design. They are often used in sportier styles of shoes like sneakers or trainers, but can also be used in dressier styles for a more contemporary look.

Shoes are not just a piece of clothing to protect your feet but are also a fashion statement. The design and prints of shoes can speak volumes about a person’s personality, interests, and style. If you’re a fan of the glitz and glamour of the casino world, incorporating the casino theme into your shoe design can be an excellent way to showcase your passion. Fashion shows are commonly organized by fashion designers and luxury brands to showcase their designs and introduce their new collections into the market. Since every element of a fashion show is completely live, from the models to the photography and all the action, it is important to get all the visuals right. This can only be done with the help of a good lighting design.

Runway lighting is an integral component of the show, perhaps even the most crucial, and it can make or break a designer’s collection. Great lighting does justice to every outfit, visually enhancing the colors, adding drama, and bringing out every significant detail of the outfit. It sets the atmosphere and mood of the space according to the theme, and therefore largely affects the success of the show. Whether you’re lighting for a runway show, a corporate red carpet event, or any celebrity photography occasions where the focus is on clothing either worn or staged as works of art, strategic lighting design is key.

Here are some of the main components of fashion show lighting that you must consider for a successful show:

·        Light Quality:

A talented designer can create a collection of stunning, utterly elegant outfits, but without high-quality lighting, they may end up looking dull, washed out, or flawed. For fashion shows, high-quality lighting entails light sources with a Color Rendering Index of over 90 that accurately captures the true color and details of the outfit. Additionally, it is advisable to use a medium color temperature light source, preferably warm, even lighting that offers visual comfort without altering the color tones of the outfits.

When designing for the runway, it is important to remember that you’re also designing for photography. Ensure that your lighting aids in flawless photography, and do a test run if possible. You should be able to accurately capture an outfit from any angle on the stage. An adequately illuminated runway with uniform diffuse lighting will soften the shadows, which will consequently flatter both the model and the outfit. Invest in quality lighting that highlights the model and draws all the attention to the outfits.

·        Lighting Positions:

Runway lighting should be able to illuminate the model from every direction, adequately lighting both the front and the back of the model to allow for an all-around view of the outfit. As a result, you cannot position your directional lighting directly overhead, perpendicular to the floor, because this will generate unflattering shadows. To avoid this, the light fixtures are positioned above the runway, aimed at a suitable angle that does not shine into the eyes of the audience or the model.

You should generally position your light fixtures across the entire platform to ensure that there is adequate lighting regardless of the position of the model. Models often pose at the end of the runway, giving photographers adequate time to get the perfect shot of the outfit. Therefore, you need to provide additional lighting at the end of the runway for this purpose.

·        Light Distribution

There should be even light distribution on the stage such that there are no hot spots and cold spots. Uneven light distribution becomes a great challenge when trying to capture outstanding photographs during the show.

Bottega Veneta Otoño-Invierno 2012/2013, Trendencias, via Pinterest

The beam spread should be precise, ensuring that the light is contained to just the stage without an overspill to the audience. Beam angle adjustment is, therefore, a crucial specification when selecting fashion show lighting, since it plays a major role in regulating the spread of light.

Whether or not you decide to illuminate the audience, it should be at a lower intensity compared to the lighting on the runway so as not to draw any attention from the stage. This allows the outfits on the runway to stand out in contrast.

·        Light Intensity

Jakarta Fashion Week Indonesia, via Pxfuel

The light intensity on the runway should be carefully set to ensure visual comfort. The light intensity should be high enough to capture all the fine details of the outfit, but not too high as to wash out the colors. On the other hand, low-intensity lighting will make the outfits look dull and dreary. Use LED Spotlights and Flood Lights to illuminate the runway stage, creating a clear contrast from the background and accentuating the outfit on the model. A dimmable fixture will allow you to adjust your light intensity to the recommended levels and as per the theme.

·        Special Effects

Traditionally, fashion show lighting incorporated even, uniform lighting primarily designed to allow for good photography. However, the modern take on runway lighting aims to create a show with creative lighting. The theatrical lighting complements the design style, integrating different colors, image projections, light sequences, and special effects such as twinkles and sparkles.

Area Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show, Vogue Magazine, via Pinterest

Lighting in modern fashion shows go the extra mile, creating a mood, and transforming the environment with the application of light. Working with the designer’s vision, you can create dramatic effects with lighting to complement their design collection. For instance, you can set up playful lighting for a fun, artsy collection, and a subtle mood for a vintage clothing collection, while still adequately illuminating the models with flattering light.

When working with special effects in runway lighting, it is important to remember not to draw attention from the models and the outfits, but simply to complement them. Since the runway is the focal point and the main act, all additional effects should not overpower it. At the end of the day, you want people to remember the outfits that were displayed, and not just the dramatic lighting.

What is the Best Light Fixture to Use?

Commonly used for theatre and stage lighting, the ellipsoidal reflector spotlight is the most highly recommended fixture for fashion show lighting. Apart from its sheer simplicity, it emits a brilliant beam of light with beam adjustment, which allows you to accurately frame your light to the runway. Additionally, some models of this fixture are compatible with accessories that can change the shape and color of the beam.

Conclusion

While our focus during fashion shows is usually on the designer outfits and the models, it is quite easy to overlook the crucial part that lighting plays in the success of the show. A lot of work goes into the lighting design of a fashion show. Taking into consideration the designer’s brief, the design style of the outfits to be displayed, the theme of the set, and the careful distribution of light, every fashion show lighting comes with its unique requirements and challenges. Incorporate the above tips and tricks when lighting for runways, fashion shows, and red carpet events for a successful show.

Have you ever found yourself buying a breathtaking outfit in a store that didn’t look just as good as it did on the display once you took it home? That is the absolute power of good lighting! A well-designed lighting solution centered on accentuating the qualities of the apparel can massively drive sales in clothing stores.

Whether it’s a window display, a fashion show, a corporate event, or a celebrity red-carpet photography session, any occasion that calls for the highlight of your outstanding design pieces should be met with impressive and flattering lighting. You can create a memorable shopping experience for your clients simply by incorporating the right lighting.

Here are the three main aspects of apparel lighting that you need to consider, to bring out the best of your clothing brand and drawing attention to all the right details:

1.      Layering of Light

Laweu Chodium 0588

In every good lighting design, there are three main layers of light: ambient lighting, task lighting, and accent lighting.

·         Ambient Lighting:

Ambient lighting is responsible for the general illumination of the space. It makes all the difference between a well-lit room and a poorly lit room. The easier method of lighting for a street store would be to create uniform high-illuminance lighting throughout the store. However, if you want to stand out as a luxury brand, it is important to create a medium illuminance level ambiance, which will then be complemented by accent lighting to create a clear contrast between the displayed outfits and the general background.

·         Accent Lighting:

Do you want to draw the focus of your customers to a specific corner of the store the moment they walk in? Use accent lighting. As the name suggests, accent lighting is used to accentuate the most important features in a room, which in this case, would be the apparel. Whether it’s a staged display for your one-time piece, an ongoing sale, or a fashion show, you have to draw all the attention of your potential customers and audience, to the art piece. Spotlighting is the perfect solution for this. Invest in track lights that offer high-quality directional lighting for your clothing pieces. Perfect Picture Lights currently offers many LED track lighting solutions for accentuating artistic pieces, clothing displays, and one-of-a-kind outfit designs.

·         Task Lighting

Task lighting is often installed in places that may require more concentrated lighting to carry out specific tasks. For instance, if you had a tailoring station, you would require localized task lighting in just that area, to avoid having to increase the ambient lighting of the entire room.

2.      Light Source Qualities

Now that you fully understand the various layers of light and how to incorporate them, it is time to pick out your lighting fixtures. Light fixtures come in such a wide range of specifications, and it is, therefore, important to understand what works best for your lighting design.

For clothing stores, the following qualities of your lighting are highly essential:

·         The Color Rendering Index (CRI)

Alexandra Maria via  Pexels

The CRI value of your lighting sources is one of the most fundamental qualities of light, but one that is most often overlooked. It refers to the accuracy with which your light source depicts the true color of the object it illuminates. Due to the high level of detailing in apparel, you need to install a light fixture with a CRI value of 90 and above. This will allow your customers to clearly view every detail in the clothing; enhancing its true color and making it appear bold and vibrant. Since color is an important aspect of fashion, do not compromise on the CRI value of your lighting.

·         Color Temperature

The color temperature is another important aspect of your store lighting. Color temperature ranges from warm to neutral/white and finally cool lighting. For apparel lighting, going for a color temperature of between 3000K to 4000K will generate warm, welcoming, and comfortable lighting for your shoppers.

Peking Road Shop, Daivewoi Huongs, 2020, via Wikimedia Commons

·         Lumens

Mannequin of woman in stylish outfit, Claudia Schmalz, 2019, via Pexels

The lumens value of your lighting refers to how bright the light source is. For apparel lighting, the goal is to create adequate lighting that provides visual comfort to all your customers without overpowering the products. To highlight any pieces, your accent lighting should be at least three times brighter than the ambient lighting. This creates enough contrast to draw focus to your pieces.

When it comes to directional lighting such as track lighting, it is important to also consider the Center Beam Candle Power (CBCP), which will dictate how far across the room your light fixture will illuminate.

·         Diffuse Lighting

Whether you intend to display your apparel folded on shelves, on a mannequin, or on a live model, apparel lighting must be flattering. Diffuse lighting creates soft uniform lighting with softer shadows that makes all your models and customers look and feel good in your designed spaces. Diffused lighting is also great for photography, as compared to the harsh, crisp shadows created by direct lighting. This is particularly useful for live fashion shows and celebrity red-carpet events.

3.      Design Style

Your decorative light fixtures should complement the design style of your store or the apparel on display. A modern light fixture may not blend seamlessly into the design of an antique or vintage clothing store, but will go well with the décor of a minimalistic or contemporary clothing brand. It is, therefore, crucial to think about your brand and preferred design style when selecting your light fixtures.

In Conclusion

If you’re looking to drive sales in your apparel store, or simply stage your designs as works of art, apparel lighting plays such a huge role that it cannot simply be overlooked. Since your lights may be on for the most part of the day, opt for energy-saving LEDs with dimmable features, allowing you to regulate your lighting levels throughout the day.

I usually start with the function of designing shoes. First, I need to know what it is like, depending on whether people will wear them or for me. It also depends on how I feel at that moment. My design process usually requires me to see pictures and read descriptions of things first. It takes a while for me to understand those pictures or words better because I don’t have any visual sense. However, once the picture makes a little more sense in my mind, I can use all sorts of mixed media such as a ballpoint pen, colored pencil, spray paint, and so on to create the image again from scratch.

And when you start thinking about those elements you want to include in your design, do you use those as a stimulus or inspiration for an idea and then try to fit other ideas around them?

I always start with one idea. Then, I keep working on it until something comes up. I love shoes because I can easily find the meaning of my work through simple forms such as ‘shoes.’ It will be challenging to express all sorts of things such as ‘love,’ ‘hope’ and ‘fear’ through the form of a shoe because each viewer may see it differently depending on their own life experiences. But there’s no way around it – we need to confront our inner world and make sense out of it for us to know who we are. And I believe that the shoes help me to do that.

For example, I would like to express something complicated such as ‘the history of a nation’ with looks and colors. So instead of telling someone what it is all about, people can understand my message by simply looking at the shoes. There’s a chance they will think about it for a while and try to remember what kind of memories they have. Doesn’t it matter if there are any conclusions because each person has their thoughts – which is precisely why nobody can say anything without hesitation – You know? In other words, I believe that my work becomes ‘an art piece’ through your mind.

I want to design shoes. What resources should I look into?

I don’t think there are any particular resources to study. I’m sure that there are plenty of examples you can learn from if you research the internet. Don’t get stuck with one idea because it takes a while for our minds to ‘digest’ something new. The most important thing is whether or not you enjoy what you are doing, right? If you love what you are doing, then your mind will make sense of all sorts of random things based on what’s in your heart.

Which is the perfect tool for shoe designing?

I can’t think of the perfect tool. So I use whatever I have in my hands at that moment. For example, ballpoint pen, pencil crayon, brush pen, Prismacolor marker. And then spray paint when the painting is required.

What are some ‘basic’ things that you keep in mind while shoe designing?

Hmm, basic? That’s a difficult question because there are so many things! But if you want me to mention one thing, it would probably be ‘Love.’ You need to put love into everything you do. Everything will fall apart if there isn’t any love involved with what you are doing. If your passion is gone, then time stops for us even though we are still working with our hands. Everything will fall apart unless you start loving what you do again, right?

I want to design shoes that I love.

How much time does it take to complete one shoe design?

It depends on the size of the work and how complicated it is. If I can finish drawing within two days, then five hours a day should be enough. But if the line doesn’t turn out as expected or even when I’m feeling uninspired, then everything comes to a halt… It takes at least thirty hours to complete something big with all sorts of mixed media. Can anyone do that in thirty hours? Hmm… probably not! You need plenty of practice for that sort of thing – especially spray painting!

What is the most challenging part of shoe designing?

I always feel like I’m getting closer to completing something. But the problem is that once it’s finished, I start feeling both exhausted and empty at the same time. It just doesn’t feel right because some things are still left undone… This ’emptiness’ makes me want to go back to the beginning again so that it can become just a little bit more complete before finishing up.

It’s so complicated! But making shoes is difficult in general… So many people have told me this more than once, but they also said that my shoes look so good even though they are unfinished! They only think about what they see at first glance without considering all sorts of different things after wearing the shoe. They said that I’d done a better job than professional designers who have been working for over ten to twenty years… Yes, definitely! I will continue designing shoes since there is no other way but forward. Even if it takes thirty hours to complete something…

Who do you want to show your shoes to?

I keep wondering about this question as well… ‘who’ and not ‘how many people. In other words, I’m looking for someone who can understand my message through my work. This person should feel what’s in my mind by seeing the little details on the side of the shoes rather than just paying attention to what’s in front of them. I don’t want anyone to look at my work and think that I’m just doing something like everyone else because it makes me tired. Isn’t there even one person who will understand what’s in my mind? If I want to reach them, then I need to move forward little by little – step by step.

I’d appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on the reason behind making shoes for people with disabilities.

Frequency of use

The more you use it, the better quality shoes provide protection, and the longest time is the most appropriate. Take off your shoes every day so that they can “breathe” for a while. If you do not wear socks when wearing shoes, it will cause sweaty feet and shoe deformation caused by bacterial growth also because there are bacteria in your toes spreading to the inside part of shoes. For this reason, daily removal of shoes is recommended even if you don’t wear socks.

If possible, change into slippers or sandals after taking off your work shoes at home. And put on a new pair before going back to work again later. This will reduce the number of times you take your work shoes.

Conditions of use

How you use shoes is the essential factor for its useful life. Always wear insoles, especially if your feet have a problem, such as a callus or corns. Insole not only provides cushion for your feet but also protects you from being bitten by nails or screws hanging on the shoe’s surface during a regular activity at work. If possible, don’t lean forward with all your weight to prevent an accident caused by the shoe sole getting detached from the upper part due to excessive force and tripping over it. Also, avoid wearing shoes outside when raining or snowing because water will seep inside and cause corrosion to metal parts inside the shoe, eventually causing rust and significantly shortening the life of shoes. Finally, when wearing shoes, turn up hems of trouser legs to keep your feet warm and don’t step on sharp objects like nails.

Why is the color of the rubber sole fading?

Wearing work boots that are not steel toe-cap or composite toe provide less protection, so wearing shoes with protective toe-caps is recommended. In addition, rubber soles will fade when exposed to strong sunlight through window glass for extended periods during hot summer days because they contain a vulcanizing agent which reacts with ultraviolet rays in sunlight. On the contrary, rubber soles become harder by being heated at high temperatures but speed up the oxidation process instead, so shoes should be kept out of fire or any direct heat source, a tremendous amount of gas stove flame.

How to find the right store to buy shoes?

It’s convenient to buy shoes at stores near the workplace or home. Its a good idea to check online comparison shopping platforms like Listlux.  However, if you want to shop for shoes by yourself, it’s better to walk around your neighborhood and make comparisons shopping at different stores before buying. Don’t buy high heels because they are not suitable for walking on uneven surfaces like asphalt roads. It can cause a fracture of the ankle bone due to excessive force that the upper part of the foot receives while walking or tripping over something when running.

How long does it take for new leather shoes’ color to change?

How does new leather shoes’ color become darker, and the smooth surface gets clear gloss? This is because dyes added during the tanning process combine with oils in the leather and oxidize, causing color changes and an increase of front. Also, depending on the material used for the dyeing process, by-products such as organic compounds like phenol or cresols (also known as carbolic acid) and metallic salts will be formed. Only time will tell how fast this oxidation process goes, but it has been said that the higher the quality of tanned leather, the better the material stability for this process. However, there are also claims that repeated use of boots during rainy days causes deformation as dyes react with water, so boots should be wiped clean after use during rainy days to make them last longer.

What happens if salt gets inside leather shoes?

Most detergents used for cleaning purposes contain sodium chloride, which is the main component of common salt. It will cause damage from corrosion if exposed to moisture or absorbs water from the washing process. If your work requires you to walk through a wet environment frequently, this can damage leather boots, and their lifespan can be shortened dramatically within a few months. Leather has a unique characteristic that allows fibers to move freely when exposed to heat or water, unlike plastics whose molecules are fixed in place and cannot change shape even when exposed to solid force as resin bonds bind plastic molecules together tightly as they are fused at very high temperatures. Washing leather boots with water and applying few drops of vegetable oil will bring back their waterproof ability, so it is recommended to place them under direct sunlight on a hot day for several hours to dry them before use.

How does rubber boots’ lifespan get shorter?

Suppose the protective material gets ripped off the boot surface due to continuous exposure to sharp objects at the workplace. In that case, dirt and sand enter inside and cause damage from the oxidation process, which causes the rubber to decompose and become sticky like chewing gum over time. Another factor that significantly affects its life is the constant exposure to surrounding high temperatures such as fire or heat sources during working hours, especially if they are not allowed to cool down before changing shoes at the end of each shift. Finally, suppose your workplace is located in a colder part of the country. In that case, it will significantly reduce the lifespan of rubber boots because oil becomes thick when cold or winter temperatures are below zero, which increases the possibility that boot soles may get stuck to surfaces when walking.

What are signs that shoe size changes?

-Your feet feel numb after a long period of standing or walking due to insufficient blood flow caused by tight shoes. Shoes should be purchased based on actual foot length and width while allowing room for movement inside. If wearing shoes with insoles, make sure it’s not thicker than the original sole because this can cause shoes’ interior surface to press against foots’ arch, causing discomfort while walking. Also, if your work requires you to frequently walk through wet environments such as rain, snow, ice, or working in a shipyard, cobblestone road, or rocky surfaces, rubber boots should be chosen based on how hard it is to move around with them.

Leather boots have a unique characteristic that allows fibers to move freely when exposed to heat, unlike plastics whose molecules are fixed in place and cannot change shape even when exposed to solid force as resin bonds bind plastic molecules together tightly as they are fused at very high temperatures. Suppose your workplace causes you to frequently walk through wet or snowy areas during winter months for an extended period. In that case, a leather pair of shoes requires better maintenance than the rubber version because the dye used for the coloring process contains water-repellent material, which keeps them from getting damaged by raindrops.

Colors are sometimes the most difficult choice when developing your own t-shirt design. When styling clothes, you can stick to the rules of color psychology. You can match combinations of some colors to others, use the meaning of color, and take a long time to find a successful shade. But for a T-shirt with your own design, these rules may not be necessary at all. The main thing is to make the colors work in favor of the overall look of the T-shirt.

An unfortunate mistake by novice clothing designers (albeit for personal purposes) is when the image blends in with the color of the fabric. Therefore, in most cases, first develop the styling, and then pick up the color of the T-shirt. Contrast has always worked well for drawing attention to the picture.

Printing does not always accurately convey the colors of the digital version of the image. The design can lose its intensity and the colors can be muted. Therefore, it is possible to provide the printing studio with color codes. Workers at such studios will retain the exact tone of certain elements of the picture or the overall design. As for the Grunge style, poor quality printing can only be a plus.

Modern equipment allows you to take photos with a resolution of 12 MP and higher, so there should be no difficulties.

As for vector files, they can be easily enlarged without loss of quality. The most common vector image formats are AI, EPS, PDF and SVG. The files are available for editing in popular vector editors: Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Affinity Designer, Sketch and others.

A bitmapped photo or picture must have a resolution of at least 200 dots per inch. It will then be sharp and detailed on the garment. You can prepare a photo to create your own t-shirt design in raster editors like Adobe Photoshop.

Clothing and shoes with animalistic prints in the annual fashion collections. They can be found in the closet of every second fashionista. In the new season you will see animalistic prints on sneakers and flip-flops, sandals and modeling shoes, on any closet items and accessories. Leopard or snake print is associated with a creative, bold and confident girl, this detail is able to give the most ordinary outfit a touch of luxury and elegance. Shoes with animalistic prints are what makes the image bright and memorable.

Cheetah, tiger colors, reptile skin or a pattern imitating it are fashionable prints that can become a key point in a stylish image. In order not to make a mistake, it is better not to experiment with a total look, opt for a pair of shoes, handbags, clutch bags or lightweight scarves. With what to wear leopard print loafers, sandals or flip-flops? Predator skin is a natural color, so it will be easy for you to pick up clothes to it. Animalistic print combines with things in casual style and unconditionally suits to dressy clothes.

Leopard, cheetah, tiger or zebra – the decor tops the top trending ornaments from year to year. The range of brands includes dresses, blouses and skirts, but women’s shoes are the least subject to modifications. Shoes with stiletto heels “like a leopard” are the main rival of black, red and gold models. This is a perfect match for La Petite Robe Noire, presented to the world by the great Coco Chanel. They are harmoniously combined with monochrome outfits, things in the nude scale, in neutral and natural colors, in all brown shades.

Animalistic print on shoes will perfectly suit a white suit, a coffee jacket and a beige handbag. This combination of colors and things is a universal look for work and leisure. White capri and top is light in summer style set, which looks restrained and smart at the same time. Light brown jacket for the office gives the official image. Accessories in light beige color is a win-win variant for all occasions.

Shoes with a print “under the raptor” is a great addition to the clothes in black. Fashionable free cut dress-coat is as comfortable as the kimono and looks as elegant as the evening attire. Length above the knee makes the accent on the original sandals, 5/6 sleeve – on the graceful wrists. Wild cat coloring hints at the unity with nature. Woven bags and hats are a great match for the leopard sandals.

Animalistic prints are eye-catching no matter what area they occupy. Even flip-flops will become a decoration of a fashionable ensemble. Animalistic prints are in harmony with yellow, which is clearly visible in the example of a long dress and flip-flops. Inclusions of white and black ensemble give even more expressiveness.

Another summer print from the animalistic – snakeskin. The pattern is not as bright as the catskin, but not inferior in its expressiveness. The snakeskin print is enlivened by shoes without heels. Modest, at first sight, loafers will play with bright colors in the sunlight. With jeans and a white T-shirt flip-flops look spectacular and unobtrusive.

Trendy prints are not necessarily a bright drawing in a rich scheme. Black and white sandals are a great summer option among the versatile. You can wear them with almost any outfit. Stylish look – snakeskin sandals and a milk-white jumpsuit, a light-colored shoulder bag in addition.

A composition is a creative way of communicating visual data that accommodates different graphic elements – text, illustrations, photos, patterns, and more. At times, it can be difficult to place all the elements harmoniously on the canvas. They shouldn’t be too scattered over the t-shirt area, and they shouldn’t be placed too closely together, creating an incomprehensible pile of designs.

Identify the key elements of the composition, and keep the focus on them. Usually it’s the main picture or illustration, complemented by text. More often than not, manipulate the borders of the photos so they don’t have a standard clear line. Designers use masks, frames, add typography to the edges of photos or use clipping from photos of irregular shape.

Typography should always support the idea of the photo or picture. Also make sure that the lettering does not merge with the background or other elements of the composition. To create a complex composition, you’ll need good graphic-editing skills.

Often the text plays a key role in the composition, so all its details become important: lettering, font, size, colors, additional elements, and so on. So typography in T-shirt design becomes more and more popular and varied. It can act as a basic element of design or complement the composition of illustrations and photographs.

The main purpose of typography in fashion design is to convey a message in an effective way. You can give some word more meaning by using graphic elements and the right font. Also, typography makes people relate to the design more easily. A t-shirt with your own lettering can have a simple, minimalist look and still make you stand out from the people around you.

It’s important that the lettering match the overall style of the garment. You can use the most unusual and bold fonts, as long as they fit into the overall picture and correctly convey the meaning of the text. On the internet you can find a lot of free fonts in the styles: minimalism, comic, classic, 3D, and many others.

Designers do not recommend using more than 3 different fonts in one composition of typography. If an image is used with the text, it is not recommended to use more than 2 different fonts.
